Venue Description:
VANOC will have a Main Media Centre (MMC) in 2010 that combines the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) with the Main Press Centre (MPC). The MPC will be located in the existing Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre (VCEC) with the IBC being housed in the expansion. VANOC will have exclusive use of the facilities – which cover a 3.25 hectare site – from September 1, 2009 to March 22, 2010.

Post-Games Use
Following completion, VCEC will continue to be a leading convention centre in North America. With tripled capacity, the facility will offer the ability to hold simultaneous events, each with their own separate access and function space.

Construction Update:
Overall, 59,000 square metres of function space is being added to the existing 12,350 square metres of space at the current convention centre. In addition, VANOC has the use of the existing cruise ship facility that is connected to the Convention Centre and provides an additional 9,000 square metres of space. The first phase of construction began in the spring of 2005 and completion is scheduled for 2008.
