2010 Aboriginal Business Summit (2007)
Date: January 31 - February 2, 2007
Location: Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel, Vancouver, British Columbia
The 2010 Aboriginal Business Summit (the Summit), organized by the Province of British Columbia in partnership with the Four Host First Nations Society and the Federal Government brought together First Nations, Inuit and Métis business and community leaders from across Canada to identify the unparalleled opportunities that will be generated by the 2010 Winter Games. The purpose of the Summit was to discuss and present potential business opportunities associated with the 2010 Winter Games including: building, supplying and servicing the 2010 Winter Games; tourism, retail, licensing as well as arts and culture. The speakers engaged Aboriginal businesses in workshops and through keynote presentations to ensure the community had an early start in planning to supply goods and services for the 2010 Winter Games.
With the assistance of the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), the Summit was an overwhelming success. Over 470 participants took part in the two-day event in Vancouver, British Columbia (B.C.). Special presentations included the launch of the official Four Host First Nations Society logo and the unveiling of a Royal Canadian Mint Gold Coin featuring that new logo.
